The Wiesel 1 class is for children in the first grade  who have at least one parent with German language skills. We begin the morning’s activities with an active circle to experience the language through movement and thereby encourage the children to speak and participate in a playful way. The class reviews the German alphabet and learns the basics of German grammar, as well as reading and writing.  We talk about things of interest to the children to show them that learning a language is fun.  We also do crafts, paint and draw, play inside and outside, listen to stories or, on occasion, watch a classic German children’s film.
At the end of the school year children will be able to read simple German texts.
