This class is for students who have either completed several years of German, have lived for a while in a German-speaking country or have equivalent language skills and are comfortable conversing in German. The focus is on political and historical events past and present in Germany and other European countries. We read articles, listen to news clips or watch podcasts and discuss vocabulary and content afterwards. Furthermore we read short stories and lyric from many different authors and poets and discuss them in their historical context. The class also reviews regularly varied advanced concepts of German grammar and sentence structures.
